The Fitzgibbon cup is named after a Dungourney man called Fr. Edwin Fitzgibbon. He was born in 1884 and went to school in the local area. He ventured into the Capuchin Franciscan Order in 1893. In 1938, he died and was buried at the Capuchin cemetery in Rochestown.[2]
